Mexico
Mexico is a vast country which encompasses everything from arid deserts to lush tropical rainforest, and its culture is equally diverse, influenced by the ancient Mayan and Aztec civilisations, the Spanish conquistadors and modern globalisation. The Yucatán Peninsula is home to idyllic white-sand beaches and a turquoise sea, picturesque haciendas and impressive Mayan ruins, the most famous of which has to be Chichén Itzá. The central highlands are dotted with colonial towns, indigenous churches and relics from the country's silver mining past. The sprawling metropolis of Mexico City is a chaotic, lively and colourful city, built by the Spanish on the site of the Aztec capital
and still a city of contrasts.

Whale Shark Adventure
Whale Shark adventures are AVAILABLE JUNE TO SEPTEMBER. The Island of Isla Holbox is 3 hours from Puerto Aventuras, just off the Northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. This is one of the very few places in the world that you can observe and actually swim with the extraordinary Whale Shark during their annual migration. The encounters are practically guaranteed at Isla Holbox from mid June through early September. The Whale Sharks are normally seen feeding at the surface so you can easily view them from the boat or snorkel along side of them. This is a terrific opportunity to get up close and personal with the largest fish in the world without even putting on Scuba gear!
The air-conditioned van departs your hotel at 5:30 am for the 2 1/2hr van ride to Chiquila. Coffee, tea, juice and muffins are served.
Upon arrival at Chiquila, you will board an eight passenger boat for the approximately 1 hr ride to the site where the Whale Sharks feed. Your boat has shade, drinks, and fruit on board.
Snorkelers are allowed to enter the water in small groups and swim along side the feeding Whale Sharks who basically ignore the presence of people. You will have approximately 2 hrs to swim with these magnificant creatures, so don't forget your camera!
Afterwards, you will be taken by boat to a charming beachside restaurant on Isla Holbox for lunch. You'll also have time for a brief tour of the town area, take a walk down the beach, or simply nap in a beachside hammock before departing by boat back to the van for your return ride to Puerto Aventuras. You'll be back in time for dinner!
